My Map

 

My Map is the toolset which enables you to create graphics on the map with the ability to style and edit the graphics. To access My Maps you can either select the paint pallet icon to the right of the search bar or select the My Map display mode button.

The My Map feature provides temporary storage of graphics and is not meant to be a permanent. If your ‘Flash Cache’, also known as website storage, is deleted, you will lose your saved graphics.

Available graphic types are point, line, polygon, circle, rectangle, polyline and text. Graphics can be added, edited, deleted etc all from within the My Map area of the Interactive map window.

To add a graphic to the map:

  1. Click the button of the type of graphic you would like
  2. Follow the draw instructions beside the mouse cursor.

To add a property to the map as a graphic:

  1. Click the parcel you would like to make a graphic
  2. Select the ‘Add to My Map’ button in the property information callout box.

Each graphic appears as an item in the My Map table of contents and provides access to a variety of editing tools for each specific item. Operations which can be completed are visibility, deletion, label editing, geometry editing, as well as shape enhancements such as adding labels, buffers, and duplication.

To turn on and off the visibility of a graphic:

  1. Click the check box beside the graphic
  2. Checked Box - the graphic is visible
  3. Unchecked Box – the graphic is not visible.

To delete a graphic:

  1. Click the garbage beside the graphic you would like to delete.

To edit the label of the graphic:

  1. Doubling click the text label in the My Map table of contents
  2. Type your custom label.

 

The ‘Item Symbolizer’ can be accessed by clicking the colour wheel; from here you can change the style, colour, transparency and size of a graphic.

 

To edit a graphic:

 

  1. Check the box beside enable editing
  2. Click on a graphic
  3. Drag a vertex.

 

To add a vertex to a graphic:

 

  1. Click and drag the edge of a graphic

 

To delete a graphic’s vertex:

 

  1. Right click on the vertex to be deleted
  2. Select delete vertex.

Tools specific to a graphic can be accessed from the toolbox dropdown menu or by right clicking a graphic. The item symbolizer and delete tools can be accessed from this menu.

To label a graphic:

  1. Select ‘Create Label’ from the toolbox dropdown menu beside the graphic you want to label. It will use the text from the graphics name for the label.
  2. The label will be added to the My Map table of contents as a graphic and can be styled using the ‘Item Symbolizer’.

To identify features that intersect with the drawn graphic:

  1. Select the ‘Identify Features’ tool from the toolbox dropdown menu of the graphic to use the identify tool with your graphic.

To create a buffer around a graphic:

  1. Select the ‘Buffer Area’ tool from the toolbox dropdown menu of the graphic
  2. Select the units of the buffer
  3. Enter a distance for the buffer
  4. Choose a colour and transparency
  5. Click ‘Apply Buffer’.

Clicking the duplicate graphic tool in the toolbox dropdown menu of a graphic will create a duplicate of the graphic.

The draw order of graphics is reflected in the Table of contents. Items listed at the top will be drawn above graphics which are shown below. To change the draw order, click the item in the table of contents and either drag it above or below the other items.
