Map Navigation

Search Bar

The search bar located at the top of the screen can be used to locate various features throughout the county.  Simply click on the search bar and type in your search criteria and the search bar will start predicting what information you’re interested in finding.

 

 

General Tools

• Tools for map navigation include:

 

 

Pan 

·         Click and drag to pan the map.

·         The arrow keys on your keyboard will pan the map up, down, or side to side.

 

Zoom In & Zoom Out

• Click the “+” once to zoom the map in at stepped increments.  

• Holding shift and drawing a box will also allow you to zoom to the extent of the box

• Click the “–” once to zoom the map out at stepped increments.

• You can also use the scroll wheel on the mouse to zoom in and out quickly.

Zoom to Full Extent

·         Clicking the Globe icon will reset the map to its full extent.

Scale

• You can reference the scale of the map by looking in the bottom right-hand corner of the map.

My Location

• Clicking on the “my location” tool will zoom to and mark your location on the map.

Quick Use Button

• The blue 'Quick Use Button' allows users quick access to the applications tools and themes (e.g. Forestry and Recreation Theme).

 

Printing and Map Information Tools

• In the bottom right of the application is a semitransparent grey box with some basic applications.

• These applications include: print, legend, feedback, and terms.

 

 

 

• Print

• • Prints the current map extent viewed on the screen.
    

• Legend

• • Opens the map legend, which shows all the features that are currently on your map.
    

• Feedback

• • Your opportunity to rate the usefulness of maps.simcoe.ca and give any feedback that may help to improve the site further.
    

• Terms

• • Opens a window displaying the disclaimer and terms of use for the maps.simcoe.ca site.
